Leo P. Hylan, Esq.

Leo Hylan was born in Washington, D.C. in 1958 into a Navy family. He was raised in Maryland as well as the Midwest, the South, New England and North Africa. In 1980 he received his bachelor’s degree in History from Beloit College in Wisconsin. Leo went on to receive his J.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1984. While in law school he was an editor on law review and won awards for top grades in Evidence, Criminal Law and Torts.

After graduating law school, Leo clerked for Judge Edward Northrop for the Federal District Court for Maryland in Baltimore City.

In 1991, Leo left Eccleston and Wolf, a prominent defense firm, to start his own practice. With his friend, Trevor Kiessling, who had used the Fort Smallwood office as his campaign headquarters in his bid for the Maryland General Assembly, the two moved into the office full time where they worked together, maintaining their separate practices.

Since then, Leo has been a very active member of the local political community. For instance, in 2006, Leo successfully ran former associated attorney Lauren Parker’s campaign when she was elected to become the Register of Wills for Anne Arundel County. He has served on the Saint Jane Frances School Board and currently is a Director of the Bayberry Community Association in Arnold, Maryland.

Many of Leo’s cases have been reported in the Annapolis Capital, the Gazette, Baltimore Sun, Daily Record and Washington Times involving all major aspects of criminal and civil litigation.
